Marilyn Monroe Memorial, August 2002

Home ]

In August, 2002, fans from around the world came to LA to pay tribute to Marilyn's 40th memorial. At least 17 different fan clubs and groups attended, as well as individuals who came on their own, celebrities who knew and worked with Marilyn, and press reporters and photographers.

In these pages I will present some of the highlights and details of this memorable weekend in LA.

Some of the groups stayed at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.

And some also stayed at the Orchid Suites, located nearby behind Graumann's Chinese Theatre.

When I arrived at the Roosevelt on Saturday afternoon, some friends were already there, hanging out by the pool.

That evening, a group of us went to see the Arthur Miller play, After The Fall at the Fountain Theatre.

After the play, we went looking for a restaurant in the Kodak Theatre complex. The only place that was open so late at night was a fancy Italian Restaurant.

The next day, the Norma2Marilyn club had a large party by the pool of the Roosevelt hotel.

We had a raffle with a lot of great Marilyn prizes. Here is Barbara announcing one of the winning numbers...

That evening we attended the Immortal Marilyn dinner party at the Renaissance Hotel.
